Verismo Gala: Contrast and Compare (1)

What is "verismo opera"? How does "realism" perspective shape dramatic themes and characters, libretti and music? In this talk we shall explore the origins and background of verismo and underline its main dramatic and musical characteristics. We shall discuss aspects of libretto, voice, structure, orchestra and more while listening to brilliant examples by prominent composers.
